What exactly is included in this Starter Pack?
Your child will receive two full weeks of martial arts classes, an official uniform, a private lesson to learn the basics, and a personal tour of our academy. You'll also receive some digital guides that parents find save them 2-3 hours in researching martial art schools and help prepare the child for martial arts training.
Do the classes need to be scheduled in advance?
You will need to schedule your first class since it is a private lesson. After that you will have open access to come to any class on the schedule. We’ll help you choose the best class times for your schedule during your private tour. You’ll know exactly when to come in.
Who is this for?
The trial is designed for beginners ages 3 and up. No experience is required, and all fitness levels are welcome. Kids who are shy, confident, coordinated, clumsy, athletic, or lacking focus... it is all okay. Even kids with ADHD or who are on the spectrum are included and given a chance to do their best. We do not discriminate.
I am a complete beginner. Can I still enroll in classes at Santa Barbara Dojo?
Absolutely! We offer classes for all skill levels and no prior experience in martial arts is necessary.
What happens after the Trial?
If your family decides to continue, we’ll review our programs, answer questions, and customize an enrollment option that works for you. We will apply the price of the trial to any membership you choose.
If it's not a good fit, no problem — there’s no obligation to continue after your trial period.
What happens in the Private Lesson?
Your whole family will be invited to participate in a class that is just for you. You'll learn the basic rules and etiquette, and get comfortable with the class structure before joining group sessions. Your child will walk away excited to join the class and you will know first hand what it's all about.
What should we wear when training?
For the first class we ask the family to wear comfortable clothes to move around in. We train barefoot or in socks on the mat. During the rest of the trial your child will wear the uniform to feel included, shows and show respect for the school. It will help them get into the right mindset for training.
What safety measures are in place during training sessions?
Safety is our top priority. All instructors are trained in first aid and CPR, and the dojo is equipped with a defibrillator, Olympic-quality safety mats, and safety equipment. We ensure that all training is conducted in a controlled environment, and protective gear is used during sparring sessions.
Can Parents drop off their kids?
For the first class, both parents are required to stay for the entire lesson. After this, we encourage parents to observe classes or even participate. For our youngest students, parents may be on the mat during the early lessons if needed. We discourage dropping them off especially when they are first starting.
Are there Family Discounts?
Yes! If more than one family member decides to enroll, we have special rates to make training together more affordable. In fact, if 2 people purchase this trial, we upgrade it to cover your entire household.
